The rising flood, a rising people

Love this!

The Wilder Life

In the story of the three men and the fiery furnace we are told after they are delivered from the fire — a fire so hot it incinerated the men who tossed them in — that not only were they not burnt they didn’t smell of fire.
They. Didn’t. Smell. Of. Fire.

Today your house is likely flooded. If not, you know someone. More than one someone. And their house is flooded.

Their heart is breaking. And your heart is breaking for them. My heart is breaking for them.

It’s really surreal.

Louisiana knows hurricanes. We know water. I’ve been here just ten years and I feel a sort of veteran about the water thing. It makes no sense for me to feel this way. I’m an absolute amateur with the flooding in truth. But, the high water that comes with hurricanes begins to feel like something that just comes…

“The ever abiding constant River”

The Bailey Drink

“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.” Psalms 46:4
It’ funny how still after all these years, I cannot seem to move away from “there is a river”. The river of his presence seems to remain a constant theme in my life. Just recently a portion of Canal St in New Orleans is closed because it has a gigantic sinkhole right at the end of it. Evidently there is a huge “river” of water flowing underground from broken water pipes. I pray you too have found this underground river of His cleansing, His ever flowing love and grace.

Ralph Erskine says it this way;

slovene sojourn

We have been in communication for nine months with a church that is heavily involved in missions – a church with solid leadership and a great reputation. It is a church that anyone would be excited to be associated with. Today they let us know that they had finished their process of seeking God’s will.  They let us know that God is not leading them to partner with us.

In the interest of transparency, here’s what happened inside me in rapid succession as the news sank in:

ENERVATION – When we got the news, my first impression was not a thought but a feeling. It felt like walking into a wall of mud – all the momentum knocked out and the impression of weight.  I’m not going to attach a reasoning to it because it was visceral, not rational.

FLURRY – Next were all the thoughts at once. I can’t…

Finding my “thing”

Hey everyone!

I have been missing writing so much lately….my life has been super busy between school, work, church and now being a life group leader! (which I’m super stoked about). I love making new relationships and getting to know people who aren’t exactly like me, and that is okay. Sometimes, people who aren’t like you bring out a side of you that you didn’t know existed! You find out more things about yourself by being in relationships with others!

Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I am passionate about. When I first thought about this question, it made me realize that I never felt like I was passionate about much. School? Nah… Work? Definitely nah… The one thing I am passionate about is my faith. As I thought more and more, I began to realize that there are things that make my heart leap. I love to…
